Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov says Iran nuclear talks not likely to be extended after June 30

MOSCOW, May 5. /TASS/. Moscow has no reason to expect that negotiations on Iran's nuclear programme will continue after a June 30 deadline, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Tuesday. "We have the distinct impression that the talks are moving in the right direction," Lavrov said. "A political framework agreement is now being saturated with concrete legal and technical texts." "As for all aspects, both Iran’s commitments and commitments to lift sanctions [against Tehran], I have no reason to make any forecasts now suggesting that the time frame set by the six powers [Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States - the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council - plus Germany] and Iran, namely June 30, should be extended," he said. "But if necessary…, we certainly put quality of agreements first, and not an artificial deadline," Lavrov added.
