Russian, Iranian lawmakers to discuss Syria at joint meeting of committees

MOSCOW, December 5. /TASS/. Foreign policy committees of the Russian State Duma and the Iranian Majlis will have a joint meeting in Moscow on Tuesday where they plan to discuss cooperation in fighting global terrorism, combating drug war and nuclear partnership. "The agenda of the meeting includes issues of interparliamentary cooperation, developments in Syria in the context of combating the forces of global terrorism, mine clearing efforts and restoration of vital infrastructure in the Syrian Arab Republic, the Iranian nuclear dossier and our cooperation in the nuclear field and also economy and investments," Leonid Slutsky, head of the Russian State Duma Committee for Foreign Affairs, told TASS. The meeting is also set to discuss "anti-drug efforts and a memorandum of understanding," which is expected to be signed during the upcoming visit of State Duma Speaker (Vyacheslav Volodin) to Tehran, Slutsky said. A delegation of the Iranian Majlis led by its Speaker Ali Larijani is currently visiting Moscow for an international forum 'Members of Parliament vs. Drugs'. Read more
