Russian-Japanese talks on economic activity on Kuril Islands may be held in November - diplomat

MOSCOW, October 14. /TASS/. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov has reported that he expects to hold consultations with Japan on the joint economic activity on the Kuril Islands in November in Moscow, he told journalists on Monday. "We are coordinating the dates of these consultations on the joint economic activity and will announce them in the near future. They should take place in Moscow, one after another. I think it will be in November," he said, answering TASS’ question. Moscow and Tokyo are carrying out consultations on issues of the joint economic activity in the southern part of the Kuril Islands in five directions: aquaculture, greenhouse business, tourism, wind power engineering and recycling. The sides regard the development of cooperation in these areas as an important move toward the signing of the peace treaty. Read more
