Russian, Kazakh prime ministers discussing prospects of bilateral cooperation

KOKSHETAU /Kazakhstan/, May 28. /TASS/. Russian and Kazakh Prime Ministers, Dmitry Medvedev and Karim Masimov, are meeting in the Kazakh settlement of Kokshetau on Thursday to discuss prospects of cooperation between the two countries. "I am very happy to be in Kazakhstan again to take part in international events to take place tomorrow [on Frida] and to exchange views on the development of the Russian-Kazakh cooperation," Medvedev said opening the meeting. "We have subjects to discuss." Medvedev has just arrived in Kazakhstan to take part in the meetings of the Council of CIS Heads of Government and the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council due to take place on Friday in the Kazakh settlement of Burabai. The summit of heads of government of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) will focus on a wide range of CIS-related issues, in particular the adoption of a plan on the CIS countries’ joint steps in the spheres of finance and economy, a strategy of transport security inside the member countries in issues of international transportation, and a concept of interregional and cross-border cooperation until the year 2020. The agenda of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council has about 20 issues, including the state of bilateral trade and measures to expand trade among the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) states, closer cooperation in the macro-economic and monetary policy, export support measures and better conditions for customs regulation in the EAEU.
