Russian opposition has nothing to offer voters

Kazakhstan, Astana, March 5 / Trend D.Mukhtarov / Russian opposition has nothing to offer voters, first vice-president of the Centre for Modelling Strategic Development under the Moscow State University Grigory Trofimchuk believes. "The opposition has nothing to offer the citizens of the Russian Federation. They offered the same thing in 1991 and Russian citizens were the first in the post-Soviet space to get the classic 'colour revolution" in its purest form, with the change of the state flag and ideology," Trofimchuk said on Monday during a press-marathon '2012 Election: public discussion of the results of the Russian Federation's presidential election'. "We got a whole set of European values and realised that they are worthless. So don't prohibit them, but allow the holding of rallies, let them say and try to please people. I think they won't manage to do it again," Trofimchuk said. Trofimchuk noted the opposition will be able to go to rallies, but rallies on the illegitimacy of the elections are no longer topical. "We see dullness of opposition and lack of creativity," said the expert. On Sunday, March 4, presidential elections were held in Russia. According to the CEC, after handling 99.3 per cent of the ballot papers, Putin secured 63.75 per cent of the votes, Gennady Zyuganov - 17.19 per cent, Mikhail Prokhorov - 7.82 per cent. Vladimir Zhirinovsky secured 6.23 per cent and Sergei Mironov - 3.85 per cent. Do you have any feedback? Contact our journalist at agency@trend.az
