Russian Orthodox Church Welcomes Developing Ties With Iran

Moscow, April 15, IRNA – Head of Foreign Relations Office of Russian Orthodox Church Patriarch Hilarion declared that Orthodox church welcomes developing ties and cooperation with Iran. In a meeting with Iranˈs Ambassador to Russia Reza Sajjadi on Saturday, the patriarch expressed pleasure with high level of relations between the church and Iranians Islamic Umma. Referring to holding nine rounds of talks between Islam and Russian Orthodox Christianity, the patriarch said that these dialogues had an important role in developing relations between this church with Iran. In the meeting, the ambassador presented the message of Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri, Secretary General of World Forum for Proximity of the Islamic Schools of Thought to Patriarch Hilarion./end
