Russian, Syrian interior ministers sign cooperation deal in Moscow

MOSCOW, April 27. /TASS/. Russian Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev on Monday held a meeting with his Syrian counterpart Mohammad al-Shaar in Moscow, and the sides signed a cooperation agreement. The Interior Ministry’s press center said Kolokoltsev familiarized the Syrian minister with his ministry’s structure and told him of the key tasks it faces. The Russian and Syrian ministers also discussed issues of international cooperation. "Formation of a full-fledged legal framework is a pledge of successful interaction between the countries’ departments," the Russian Interior Ministry quoted Kolokoltsev as saying. "An important step here is the Agreement on Cooperation between the two ministries that is signed today in the Russian Interior Ministry." The Russian minister said the agreement will "certainly give an impetus to development of relations in the field of prevention, exposure and detection of crimes, as well as establishment of ties in the sphere of police staff training." The sides stressed the importance of constant operational data and experience exchanges. "The ministry has a huge positive experience of fighting crimes in the sphere of information technologies, which we are ready to share," Kolokoltsev said. He invited Syrian colleagues to attend the Interpolitekh 2015 state security provision international exhibition to be held in October. As part of the visit, the Syrian delegation will also visit the All-Russian Advanced Training Institute, the control room of the Main Department in Moscow, expert and criminalistics laboratories as well as special purpose units.
