Russian, UAE foreign ministers discuss situation in Syria, anti-terrorist efforts - Russian foreign ministry

MOSCOW, October 26. /TASS/. The situation in and around Syria was in the focus of telephone talks between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his counterpart from the United Arab Emirates Abdallah bin Zayid Al Nuhayyan, the Russian foreign ministry said on Monday. "The sides focused attention on the situation in and around Syria in the context of the task of invigorating efforts of all parties to repel terrorists and swiftly launch political settlement in Syria on the basis of the Geneva communique of June 30, 2012," the ministry said, adding that the conversation was initiated by the Russian side. Earlier on Monday, the Russian top diplomat discussed the situation in Syria during his telephone talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif and U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry. Read more
