Safavi Dismisses Any Treaty On Bahrain-Saudi Arabia Unification

Tehran, May 20, IRNA – Any treaty for the southern countries of the Persian Gulf dictated by foreign governments is doomed, Advisor to Supreme Leader Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi said on Saturday. “Today, the nations of the region have become vigilant and the lackeys of foreign governments in the region cannot impose treaty on Bahrain, because it will be thwarted by regional nations," he said. Safavi said that sustainable peace will be achieved in the Middle East with partnership of the Islamic Republic of Iran. He said that the Iranian nation has made many sacrifices over the past three decades since establishment of the Islamic Republic to build an independent, powerful and influential country in Southwest Asia. Safavi said that the Islamic Awakening movements in north Africa, Egypt, Tunisia, Yemen and Bahrain have been inspired by lofty goals of the Islamic Revolution of Iran – campaign for freedom, independence and the national resolve to topple the western–backed dictatorial regime of Pahlavi. He said that the martyrs of freedom and independence do not belong to a single nation‏, they belong to entire humanity serving as moral assets for those involved in the campaign to get rid of global arrogance./end
