Safavi: Humanitarian Geopolitics Calls For Mideast Free From WMDs

Tehran, Oct 12, IRNA - Advisor to the Supreme Leader for Military Affairs Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi said on Saturday that humanitarian geopolitic calls for the Middle East to be free from weapons of mass destruction. He made the remarks in the national conference on “Survey on Geopolitics in South-West Asia sponsored by Taleqan branch of Payam-e Noor University. The experts and analysts advocating humanitarian approach to geopolitics seek annihilation of weapons of mass destruction around the world and call for due attention to be paid with much scrutiny to the South-West Asia mainly the Middle East and the occupied territories of Palestine and the entire world, he said. Geopolitics teaches us how to make use of geographical and political opportunities to support national sovereignty, Safavi said. He said that geopolitics also calls for turning the threats into the opportunities, adding that geopolitical benefits must be utilized to build up national power. The region enjoys a very remarkable cultural and spiritual status, because it has been a place for advent of divine religions, Safavi added./end
