Salami: Iran not to spare any effort to preserve Iraq’s security

Tehran, Jan 3, IRNA – Iran will spare no effort aimed at assisting Iraqi central government in preserving territorial integrity, national security, and social stability, said lieutenant commander of Islamic Revolution Guard Corps commander here Thursday. “The Islamic Republic of Iran will spare no effort in its assisting the central government of Iraq to preserve the country’s territorial integrity, national security, and social stability, including in offering military training, logistical consultations, and transfer of combat sciences and experience,” said Major General Hossein Salami in his meeting with visiting Iraqi Defense Minister Khalid Mutab Yasin Al Obeidi and his accompanying delegation. Major General Salami praised the Iraqi Army, government, and nation’s continuous victories in recent months in their sacred campaign against the Takfiri terrorists in Amerli, Jorf ul-Sakhr and other Iraqi regions, reiterating that such victories are signs of reversed developments in favor of the Iraqi nation’s interests. “From the geopolitical viewpoint of the Zionists and their trained Takfiri terrorists, the Islamic countries need to be small, disintegrated, and deprived of stability and security,” said the deputy IRGC commander. He said that the Zionists’ strategy on the one hand, and the US efforts aimed at weakening the Islamic countries on the other hand show how aligned and integrated those two countries’ policies are in pursuing their regional, anti-Islamic, pro-Zionist tactics. The Iraqi defense ministers, too, said for his part that both Iran and Iraq are well aware of the plots hatched by their shared enemies, of which the Zionist regime takes greatest advantage. Major General Khalid Mutab Al Obeidi appreciated the IRGC deputy commander for his precise description of the situation on the ground in Iraq, reiterating that Daesh is a great peril for the Islamic world, and the Iraqi Army’s fight against the Takfiri terrorists is on behalf of the entire world Muslims. Criticizing the weak and insufficient contribution of the so-called anti-ISIS coalition, the Iraqi defense minister said: It was under such conditions that we sought refuge by the supporting side of our friend and brother Iranian nation, when no way, but regional cooperation and solidarity is left for encountering this huge plot. General Al Obeidi expressed hope that the result of Iran-Iraq close cooperation in campaign against Daesh will be full victory against them in very near future and disheartening of their regional and international supporters./end
