Salehi Confers With Qatari Counterpart On Release Of Kidnapped Iranians In Syria

Tehran, Aug 5, IRNA – Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi conferred with his Qatari counterpart on the situation of Iranian pilgrims kidnapped in Syria. In a phone conversation with Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim al-Thani, he called on Qatar to mobilize efforts to get the kidnapped pilgrims released. The Qatari foreign minister said he would make every attempt to help release the kidnapped Iranian pilgrims. Al-Thani said he will consider the case and take speedy measures to tackle the issue. Some 48 Iranian pilgrims were kidnapped by armed people on Sunday on their way to their hotels from the holy shrine of Hazrat Zeinab (SA), the beloved sister of Imam Hossein (AS). During the conversation, the two foreign ministers also reviewed regional developments including the current situation in Syria./end
