Salehi: Iran To Take Over First Unit Of Bushehr Power Plant Monday

Tehran, Sept 22, IRNA – Head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi said the first unit of Bushehr nuclear power plant is to be temporarily handed over to Iran on Monday. Talking to IRNA on Sunday, he said the Iranian contractor is to take over the first unit of the 1,000-megawatt nuclear power on September 23. He said that during the temporary operation, the power plant is to have a record of two-year performance which will be under the guarantee of the Russian contractor. After that, he reiterated, the power plant will be fully controlled by the Iranian contractor. Since about two weeks ago, necessary tests were carried out in the plant which all proved positive, Salehi noted. He further said that construction of the second unit of the Bushehr nuclear power plant will be started by the Russian contractor soon./end
