Salehi: Islamic Awakening, Strong Storm Formed By Arab Public Demands

Tehran, June 5, IRNA – Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said the Islamic awakening in the region was not a small flame to die away soon but rather a strong storm formed by public demands of Arab nations rooted in the Islamic beliefs. In a message read to the 6th gathering on “Imam Khomeini and the foreign policy” Tuesday morning, he said the awakend nations who clearly manifest Islamic tendencies in their rhetoric and mottos want to play a role in determining their fates. He further noted that the Islamic awakening is the most important element for mobilizing people and inspiring anti-colonial sentiments in them. Salehi added that one major factor in the success of the awakening movement in Iran was the belief in constructive and effective role of religion in contemporary developments./end
