Salehi, Libyan Counterpart Discuss Abducted Iranians

New York, Sept 28, IRNA – Islamic Republic of Iran’s Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi discussed the freedom of Iranian nationals (personnel of Iran’s Red Crescent Society) abducted in Libya with his Libyan counterpart. Seven members of Iran’s Red Crescent Society were abducted in the Libyan city of Benghazi on July 30. The Libyan government had previously assured IR Iran that it would secure the release of kidnapped Iranians. Since interference of NATO in Libya and overthrowing the regime of former Libyan dictator, Muammar Qaddafi, the issue of paramilitary forces and their lack of conformity with Libya’s central government have been one of the main concerns in that country./end
