SBY-Jokowi Meeting Expected To Make Government Transition Successful

Jakarta, Aug 27 (Antara) - The meeting between incumbent President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and President-elect Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on Wednesday night in Bali Province is expected to contribute to the success of government transition, Lieutenant General (ret) Agus Widjojo noted. "Everyone expects that President Yudhoyono and Jokowi`s meeting will run smoothly for the sake of good governmental transition," said Agus, Indonesian military`s former chief of territorial affairs and also a political observer, during a discussion held here on Wednesday titled Lessons Learned from the 2014 Election in the Context of Democratic Transition in Indonesia. Agus also praised the implementation of legislative and presidential election this year, saying that it had been held peacefully. The Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is scheduled to meet Jokowi in Bali, on Wednesday (August 27), to hear his presidential plans. "President Yudhoyono`s meeting with Jokowi is scheduled tonight, and he will hear more about Jokowi`s plans as his successor," Coordinating Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Minister Djoko Suyanto noted here on Wednesday. Suyanto stated that several other comprehensive meetings are also lined up following President Yudhoyono`s meeting with Jokowi. Earlier, on Monday (August 25), Presidential spokesperson Julian Aldrin Pasha noted that the meeting will be held after President Yudhoyono`s state visit to Timor Leste on August 25-27, 2014. "The meeting is planned to be held on August 27 in Bali. President Yudhoyono will receive President-elect Jokowi," the spokesperson remarked. Julian also stated that President Yudhoyono will directly head to Bali after concluding his state visit in Dili, Timor Leste. "The meeting was President Yudhoyono`s initiative and marked a milestone in the transition of political leadership in our country," he added.
