Scholar: NAM Meeting In Tehran To Positively Impact Int'l Ties

Tehran, Aug 6, IRNA – Tehran’s Representative in the Assembly of Experts Ayatollah Seyyed Mahmoud Alavi said holding the 16th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit in the Iranian capital will have positive impact on the international arena. Talking to IRNA, he stressed that the enemies are unhappy with Iran’s hosting the NAM summit. He also noted that Iran’s efforts to develop ties with other nations will encourage people to take Iran as a role-model. This, the ayatollah added, will persuade nations that the Islamic Republic is well capable of having a dynamic presence in the international stage. He believed such an attitude and approach will further consolidate Iran’s position in global relations. He further expressed hope that like the 8th summit of the Islamic countries held in Tehran in 1997, the upcoming meeting, too, will be of constructive consequences for the country./end
