SCO countries to have common Convention on fighting extremism

UFA, July 10. /TASS/. Countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) are working on a Convention on fighting extremism and will be paying special attention to cooperation in fighting international terrorist organisations, SCO summit’s Strategy of Organisation’s development to 2025 reads. "Special attention will be paid to cooperation in fighting activities of international terrorist organisations aimed at attracting citizens of [SCO] member countries in terrorist, separatist and extremist organisations," the document reads. The member countries will "fight jointly spread of extremist, separatist ideas first of all among the youth, and will prevent religious extremism, aggressive nationalism, ethnic and race intolerance, xenophobia, ideas of fascism and chauvinism." "For those purposes, the member countries will offer a SCO Convention on fighting extremism," the Strategy reads. Besides, the Organisation’s priorities include fighting illegal turnover of drugs, weapons, nuclear materials, trans-border crimes, illegal migration, human trafficking and so on. SOC countries will exchange regularly the information on those issues and will conduct joint analysis of the situation in the region. Read more
