SCO leaders to sign about ten cooperation documents at Qingdao summit - Chinese top diplomat

BEIJING, May 28. /TASS/. Leaders of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states will sign about ten documents on cooperation in various areas during their summit in China’s Qingdao, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said at a special briefing on Monday. "Chairman Xi Jinping and other leaders of SCO members states will sign a joint statement, making it public, and will also sign about ten cooperation documents," he said. According to Wang Yi, a ten-year program for the implementation of the Treaty for Long-term Good-Neighborly Relations, Friendship and Cooperation and a security cooperation program are among the documents expected to be signed. The SCO summit will take place in the Chinese city of Qingdao, Shandong province, on June 9-10. The Declaration on the Establishment of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization was singed in China’s Shanghai in June 2001 by six founding states - Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. India and Pakistan were granted SCO membership on June 9, 2017. Afghanistan, Belarus, Iran and Mongolia currently enjoy observer status, while Sri Lanka, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Cambodia and Nepal are dialogue partners. Read more
