Secretary General of Xinjiang Institute of Foreign Affairs hails AZERTAC`s being the only regional news agency that produces news in Chinese

Baku, April 7, AZERTAC Secretary General of Xinjiang Institute of Foreign Affairs Xue Li has praised the fact that AZERTAC is the only news agency in the region that produces news in Chinese. “This is of great importance to us,” said Li as he met with Director General of AZERTAC Aslan Aslanov. “We are very glad that AZERTAC produces news in Chinese language. News agencies play a vital role in building and developing relations between countries.” Li hailed AZERTAC`s fruitful cooperation with the Confucius Institute in Baku. He also emphasized AZERTAC employees` interest in learning Chinese. Li expressed his readiness to contribute to building cooperation between AZERTAC and Xinjiang Institute of Foreign Affairs. Aslan Aslanov highlighted the development of relations between Azerbaijan and China, particularly in the field of information. He spoke of AZERTAC`s cooperation with Chinese Xinhua news agency, saying “the two agencies carry out regular information exchange”. The Director General touched upon AZERTAC`s cooperation with the Confucius Institute. He said work is underway now – as agreed by the Azerbaijani and Chinese governments – to establish relations between AZERTAC and the National Press Council of China. Aslan Aslanov highlighted the activity of the News Agencies World Congress and the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies as AZERTAC currently chairs both organizations. They also discussed personnel exchange between AZERTAC and Xinjiang Institute of Foreign Affairs, implementation of joint projects, presentation of the Chinese version of AZERTAC`s website in Urumqi, Chinese` students internship at AZERTAC, as well as cooperation between AZERTAC and Chinese Huanqiu and China News Service agencies.
