Security Tightened In Pakistani Capital

Islamabad, Oct 9, IRNA – Security of Islamabad have been tightened after intelligence reports warned of terrorists attacks at a five-star hotel, some sensitive installations and political personalities, a media report said Monday. 'The News’ reported that the outfit, identified as Tariq Geedar Group (Ghorzang), has plans to carry out these attacks. “Suicide bombers and explosive material have been transported to Islamabad for the purpose,” the sources revealed. The intelligence agencies have warned that other sensitive installations or important political personalities could also be targeted. Intelligence sources said: “An intercept reveals that Tariq Geedar Group (terrorist Ghorzang) has planned to target the five-star hotel in Islamabad. They have already carried out reconnaissance of the location and placed the required material at or around the target area. The law enforcing agencies have been put on high alert with deployment of large contingents of police and paramilitary forces at sensitive installations, while the five-star hotel has been cordoned off. Inspector General of Police (IGP), Islamabad, Bin Yameen Khanhas also confirmed the report saying stringent security measures had been adopted to protect Islamabad./end
