Beirut, Nov 21, IRNA - Deputy President of Lebanon's Islamic Shiite Supreme Council Sheikh Abdul Amir Qabalan has strongly condemned the Adhan (call to prayers) ban plan made by the Zionist regime. Sheikh Qabalan, in his Sunday message for the Nov 20 Arbaeen mourning ceremony, urged the Muslim and Arab leaders to fulfill their responsibility for supporting the Palestinian nation against its Zionist foe. The Zionist regime has recently approved a bill that bans the use of speakers for the Muslims' Adhan. In reaction to that approval, the churches of Nazara city in Palestine have aired Adhan, the move which senior Lebanese cleric has described as the sincere solidarity from the Christians to their Muslim brothers in their fight against the Zionist usurpers. The Sheikh further called on the United Nations and other international bodies to condemn the crimes being committed by the Zionist regime. The Zionist Adhan ban plan has raised protests from different Islamic and Arab countries as the spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran's Foreign Ministry Bahram Qasemi has condemned the move saying Adhan is one of the slogans of Islam and is important for Muslims. Qasemi has stressed that the ban plan is continuation of more than six decades of inhuman acts, discriminatory and cruel policies of Tel Aviv regime against the oppressed Palestinian people to make the living situation difficult for them and change the Islamic identity of the holy Quds. Furthermore, Palestine's Archbishop Theodosios Atallah Hanna has described the plan as a racist action. Referring to the action as an effort in vain to damage Islamic sanctities as well as the Christianity, Hanna said it has hurt the feelings of the Palestinian nation. In another reaction to the Zionist regime's Adhan ban move, spokesman for Palestine's Hamas Hassan Badran has said that the regime is continuing Judaization of Al Aqsa Mosque in the holy Quds. In addition, people in Nablus have held a gathering in protest against the Zionist regime's ban on airing Adhan in Bayt al-Moqaddas. On November 15, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), too, strongly condemned a bill by the Israeli occupying government aimed at legitimizing colonial settlement areas in the occupied Palestinian territories including Al-Quds Al-Shareef, and stated that these illegitimate measures undertaken by Israel with a view to consolidating its occupation and colonial settlement are null and void by virtue of international law and relevant UN resolutions, it is reported by the OIC website. 1378/IRNA
