Sequence of lifting sanctions against Iran not agreed yet - Ryabkov

MOSCOW, April 20. /TASS/. There are no distortions in the U.S. fact sheet on the agreements between Iran and the six world powers, but it doesn’t contain a number of issues that are yet to be settled, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov told reporters on Monday. "The American reference material is correct, there are no distortions in it. It provides an understanding of what the agreement in Lausanne was all about," Ryabkov said. "However, it doesn’t contain the issues that have not been settled yet, such as the consequence of lifting the sanctions, the criteria that should be met and the triggers, because these issues have not been agreed." Ryabkov added that "quite serious process" lied ahead to work out mutually acceptable solutions, "not only technical, but also political." "Judging by the comments from Washington and Tehran after April 2, both the American and the Iranian side set forth their respective positions on this issue. So, there’s no contradiction here, there’s a need to come to an agreement," the Russian deputy foreign minister said. Commenting on Washington’s statement that sanctions against Iran could be lifted after the approval of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Ryabkov didn’t confirm this information. "I’m not sure that I am ready to confirm this as an understanding reached in full measure with the participation of Iranians," the diplomat said. Read more
