Shaheed Manipulated UN Faulty Mechanisms In Compiling Report

Tehran, March 6, IRNA – The Human Rights Headquarters of the Islamic Republic of Iran said the recent report of the UN special rapporteur Ahmad Shaheed once again proved that the faulty mechanism of the United Nations is manipulated to exert pressure on independent countries. In a statement on Tuesday, the body expressed sorrow over the misusing of the UN mechanisms by Shaheed in compiling untrue reports on Iran and said the text was compiled to intensify psychological pressure and propaganda warfare against the Islamic Republic of Iran led by certain hostile western countries. It said the report certainly lacks any legal values. The statement also noted that misusing the weak and faulty UN mechanism for illegitimate political purposes and intriguing the public opinion only served the hegemonic goals of the West and the Zionists. It further wondered why no special rapporteur has ever been assigned to check the performance of certain western countries particularly the Zionist regime which is responsible for a committing numerous crimes and massacring tens of thousands of defenseless people in their own homeland while there is always a rapporteur for Iran which is the biggest and most solid democracy in the region. The statement described the report as one-sided, purposeful and unrealistic and said it is far from transparency, justice, impartiality and legality./end
