Shaheed Report One-sided, Far From Reality: Foreign Ministry

Tehran, Oct 8, IRNA – Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham said the report by the United Nations Special Rapporteur for Human Rights Ahmed Shaheed about Iran is one-sided and far from reality. She made the remarks here Wednesday during her weekly press briefing. She said since the report is compiled in complete ignorance of regulations and is out of the authority of a human rights rapporteur, it lacks legal authenticity. She also said the tone of report proves that a will beyond human rights structure is involved in compiling it. Iran seriously rejects the unfair and unprincipled behavior of the UN Human Right Rapporteur, she added. Afkham said that Shaheed pictures himself as a political opponent of the Islamic Republic of Iran by using such irregular and illegal methods as making fact finding trips to a number of European countries, conducting guided interviews with certain media and offering comments about his report in advance.
