Shi'a Leader Praises Iran’s Role In Restoring Peace In Syria

Islamabad, Dec 29, IRNA -- A Pakistani Shi'a religious leader on Friday praised the role of Islamic Republic of Iran in restoring peace in Syria. Talking to IRNA Senior Vice President of Pakistan Awami Tehreek Agha Murtaza Poya said that imperialist forces are behind unrest in Syria. He welcomed the statement of Iranian Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi that the Islamic Republic of Iran would spare no effort aimed at restoration of peace and security in Syria. 'Tehran supports any well intentioned move aimed at putting an end to the ongoing aggressions in Syria and restoration of peace and security in that country,’ said Salehi. “Iran has always played a positive role to resolve Syrian crisis,” Agha Murtaza Poya added. The scholar added that throughout the past 35 years Syria has been supporting Iran, refuting all international pressures. Express his views Agha Murtaza Poya said that no one should expect any positive role from the United Nations (UN) and the OIC on Syria. He said that many international organizations have been formed to protect the interests of Zionist regime. Awami Tehreek leader suggested that the headquarters of the OIC should be moved to Pakistan or to Lebanon. He said that the imperialist forces are becoming weak by each passing day. “The world is standing on the verge of a positive change,” he viewed. Agha Murtaza Poya prayed for the success of Bashar al-Assad. He said that terrorism is increasing in the world because of the policies of the imperialist forces. He said that China and Russia, despite being non-Muslim countries, have been playing positive roles to resolve the ongoing crisis in Syria. The scholar said that the Iranian six-point agenda is the only solution to restore peace in Syria. He said that according to the prediction of former US top presidential advisor Henry Kissinger the Zionist regime would cease to exist by 2020. He was confident that the Zionist regime would be finished in 2014. On December 16, Iran unveiled the details of a six-point plan to resolve the ongoing crisis in Syria, which calls for an immediate end to all violent and armed acts. Syria has been experiencing unrest since mid-March 2011. Many people, including large numbers of security personnel, have been killed in the violence./end
