Shias Observe Imam Khomeini’s Death Anniversary In Pakistan

Islamabad, June 5, IRNA – Shias in Pakistan have observed the 23rd departure anniversary of founder of the Islamic Revolution Imam Khomeini. Speakers at a seminar organized by Majlis Wehdat Muslemeen (MWM) highlighted the teachings of late Imam. The seminar titled ‘Quran and Ahlebait’ was held in the city of Dina, in central Punjab Province. Religious and political leaders, senior members of Majlis Wehdat Muslemeen, students and people from all walks of life attended the seminar. Ameen Shaheedi, Deputy Secretary General (MWM) expressing his views, said that the societies of today must follow the teachings of Imam Khomeini and spread his message throughout the world. He said that the 4th Seminar on ‘Quran and Ahlebait’ has become an opportunity to praise the efforts of Imam Khomeini for bringing unity and solidarity among Muslims. The religious leader was of the view that wherever the freedom movements are going on in the Muslim world, they are inspired by the struggle of Imam Khomeini. Allama Ijaz Hussain Bahishti, Secretary Youth Affairs MWM, said, 'We can find the true spirit of Islam by following the teachings of Imam Khomeini.' He said that late Imam had proved to the world that power belongs to God Almighty and the Zionists would be doomed to failure. A program with reference to the 23rd departure anniversary of Imam Khomeini was also held in the city of Khairpur, Sindh Province. Allama Mukhtar Imami, Provincial Secretary General MWM, said that Imam Khomeini took guidance from the struggle of Imam Hussain (A.S). He said that Imam Khomeini was not only the leader of Iran but of the entire world. He said that it is not easy to bring revolution as it demands lots of sacrifices. In another program in Naseerabad, Balochistan Province, Zafar Abbas Shamsi, Provincial Secretary General MWM, paid homage to Imam Khomeini.
