Sinai attackers serving Israel: General

Tehran, Jan 31, IRNA – Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Major-General Hassan Firouzabadi on Saturday called latest terrorist attacks in Egypt as a “suspicious move” made by those who are assisting the Zionist regime. Commenting on Thursday’s terrorist attacks in Sinai peninsula in northern Egypt, the commander said, 'Striking the Sinai region is an act made by ignorance as those who are positioned in the peninsula are troops of Islam trying to stop any aggression made by Zionist forces against Islamic lands including the strategic Sinai peninsula.” “Those who carry out terrorist attacks against Egyptian Army troops and bases in Sinai and massacre them are serving the occupying regime of Israel intentionally or unintentionally,” Firouzabadi said. Scores of people, mostly Egyptian soldiers, were killed and many more injured on Thursday in a series of attacks on government’s forces in Sinai, where the government of Egypt has struggled to contain an 18-month insurgency by terrorist groups linked to ISIL. The Egyptian army said militants had attacked army and police bases in Arish, the region’s capital, with car bombs and mortar attacks.
