Singapore’s defence minister visits Thailand

BANGKOK, Nov 17 (TNA) -- Praising the current government of Gen Prayut Chan-ocha for moving Thailand towards democratic system after coming into power in one-and-a-half-year, visiting Singapore’s Defence Minister Dr Ng Eng Hen has urged every country to cooperate and support the Thai government. Dr Ng arrived in Bangkok on Monday for a two-day official visit as guest of the Thai Defence Ministry. According to a spokesman of the Defence Ministry, Dr Ng called on Deputy Prime Minister/Defence Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwon and admired stable and security changes in the kingdom after the current Thai government took power. Every country should to cooperate and support the Thai government for better security of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Dr Ng was quoted as telling Gen Prawit. Both men discussed bilateral security cooperation which include an exchange of visit by military officers of the two countries, a joint development on arms production and a joint military exercises which would bring peace for this region, said the spokesman. Gen Prawit thanked the Singaporean government for its understanding of Thailand and assured Dr Ng that the kingdom is heading for a stable democratic system in future, the spokesman added. (TNA)
