Situation on Korean Peninsula requires closer cooperation between North Korea and Russia, says North Korean foreign minister

MOSCOW, April 10. /TASS/. The political situation on the Korean Peninsula needs better coordination and strategic communication between Moscow and Pyongyang, said North Korean Minister of Foreign Affairs Ri Yong-ho at a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Tuesday. "The current situation on the Korean Peninsula and regarding your country and the current international political situation require from our two countries to further consolidate friendly relations of cooperation and develop strategic communication and coordination of actions between the two countries," he said. Ri Yong-ho noted that relations between Moscow and Pyongyang are traditionally friendly and continue to consolidate. "We have always noted with satisfaction that traditionally friendly relations and cooperation between the DPRK and Russia continue to successfully develop and consolidate," he said. The North Korean foreign minister added that he is glad to visit Moscow ahead of the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and North Korea.
