Islamabad, Nov 4, IRNA – Media in Pakistan on Monday gave wide coverage to the remarks of Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei saying he supported talks with world powers over Iran’s nuclear issue. Daily ‘Dawn’ reported that Iran’s Supreme Leader gave strong backing to his president’s push for nuclear negotiations. Ayatollah Khamenei’s comments will help shield President Rouhani, who has sought to thaw relations with the West since his election in June. “With God’s permission, we will not be harmed by these negotiations ... if the negotiations reach a conclusion then all the better, but if they don’t it will mean that the country must stand on its own feet,” Khamenei said. Daily ‘Business Recorder’ reported that Iran’s Supreme Leader supports his president’s push for nuclear negotiations. Iran will resume negotiations with six world powers, including the United States, in Geneva on Thursday. “No one should consider our negotiators as compromisers,” Ayatollah Khamenei said in a speech. Daily’ The Nation’ said that Iran’s Supreme Leader has voiced support for talks with world powers over his country’s nuclear drive as the process is incapable of hurting the Islamic Republic. Daily ‘The News’ reported that the Supreme Leader has dismissed the notion that submission to Western demands of abandoning Iran’s nuclear agenda “would solve all of our problems.” “I am not optimistic about the negotiations but, with the grace of God, we will not suffer losses either,” the daily quoted Ayatollah Khamenei. Daily ‘Express Tribune’ reported that Iran’s Supreme Leader has said that he supported talks with world powers over the nuclear. The remarks by Ayatollah Ali Khamenei came ahead of a new round of negotiations with the so-called P5+1 in Geneva on November 7-8. Another news paper ‘Daily Times’ reported that the Supreme Leader has expressed support for the negotiators who had a “difficult” task. “No one should see our negotiating team as compromisers,” he said. ‘Radio Pakistan’ also quoted the Supreme Leader as saying that the Iranian negotiators are on a difficult mission and nobody should weaken their position. ‘Samaa tv’ reported that Iran’s Supreme Leader gave strong backing to his president’s push for nuclear negotiations. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said, “No one should consider our negotiators as compromisers.” ‘Geo Tv’ reported that the Supreme Leader in a speech was critical of the close US alliance with the Jewish state, whose existence the Islamic republic does not recognize. “The Zionist regime is an illegitimate regime,” it quoted the ayatollah as saying./end
