S.Leader Blames Foreign Interventions For Current Conditions Prevailing In Region

Tehran, Aug 26, IRNA – Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei on Monday underlined expansion of Iran-Oman relations in all spheres, in the gas sector in particular. Receiving visiting Omani Sultan Qaboos in Tehran, Ayatollah Khamenei said Oman is a real and good neighbor of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Touching on regional issues, he said the region is now under sensitive condition which prompts both countries to have more coordination in that connection. Ayatollah Khamenei noted that the main cause of prevailing conditions in the region is intervention of extra-regional countries. One of the dangerous points affecting the region is attempts to trigger sectarian conflicts and magnify political differences among regional countries. Unfortunately, due to support of certain regional states, a Takfiri group has been formed that is now clashing with all Muslim groups; however, supporters of the group should know that this will backfire on them. The Supreme Leader said the Zionist regime is a permanent threat to the region, being supported by the US. The Leader said, The corrupt Zionist regime, having huge arsenals of weapons of mass destruction pose a real threat to the region. Ayatollah Khamenei said the region is in need of security and this will not be materialized unless weapons of mass destruction are strictly banned in the region. In the meeting, also attended by President Hassan Rohani, the Omani Sultan Qaboos said he was happy with his meeting the Supreme Leader of Iran. Terming Iran-Oman ties as very good given historical and cultural commonalities between the two countries, he said, in his talks with the Iranian president many topics concerning further expansion of bilateral ties in various economic, transit and gas sectors were discussed. Agreeing with the idea of the Supreme Leader regarding sensitive conditions of the region and the Zionist regimes threat, the King said the only way to get rid of the ongoing conditions taking interests of regional people and cooperation among them into consideration./end
