S.Leader Issues Condolence Message On Death Of Hassan Habibi

Tehran, Feb 2, IRNA - Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei issued a message of condolence on Thursday on death of the member of Expediency Council. The Supreme Leader’s message reads, ˈWith deep sorrow and regret, I was informed of the death of old friend of the revolution and committed scholar, Doctor Hassan Habibi. “Doctor Habibi’s role in preparing the first draft of Islamic Republic constitution was significant and he was an active member of the Revolution’s Council.” Elsewhere in his message, the Supreme Leader condoled the bereaved family of Habibi and his colleagues and friends. Hassan Ebrahim Habibi, member of Expediency Discernment Council and First Deputy President in Construction and Reformist governments passed away on Thursday morning after years of fighting with disease. Habibi has had served in many positions in the Islamic Revolution and Islamic Republic of Iran system. Among the positions he served have been First Deputy Presidency in Hashemi and Khatami governments, Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance in Bazargan’s cabinet, presidency of Academy of Persian Language and Literature, presidency of Iranology Foundation, and membership in Expediency Council from its inception to present./end
