S.Leader: Massive Turnout In Upcoming Presidential Election Will Insure National Security

Tehran, May 16, IRNA – Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei on Wednesday called for massive turnout in the upcoming presidential election to isolate enemies of the nation. Addressing thousands of enthusiastic people, the Supreme Leader said the people will come to the scene once again to disappoint the enemies by their massive turnout in the election. The Supreme Leader said that people should vote for an individual from the list of candidates due to be introduced by the Guardian Council. On political impact of Iranian presidential election, the Supreme Leader said that it is about one month remaining to the presidential election in Iran but it has turned to one of the most important issues in the world. The Supreme Leader said that enemies of the Islamic Revolution were focusing on political dispute to delay the election, but, now that they have understood the election will be held on due time, they are calling for the nation not to go to the ballot boxes. Elsewhere in his speech, the Supreme Leader said that a scenario to bring a weak person not opposing the wishes of the global arrogance was also doomed. ˈThe world media and news agencies affiliated to global Zionism try to magnify economic problems to disappoint people through propaganda.ˈ There is no doubt that there are some problems such as inflation and unemployment in the country but there is no country in the world away from such problems, the Supreme Leader said citing the economic recession in the European countries and everyday protests in the streets of London, Rome and Madrid. The Supreme Leader said that Iranian nation are well-known in terms of national independence, solidarity and unity and disappointing the enemies. Referring to Constitutional obligation of the Guardian Council to verify qualification of the applicants for candidacy and possibility of disqualifying several applicants, the Supreme Leader said that all should abide by law and respect the decisions to be made by the Guardian Council. Events occurred in the year in 2009 were examples of violating law, said the Supreme Leader adding that they did not let the Iranian people enjoy the glorious victory with participation of some 40 million voters./end
