S.Leader Recommends Traffic Police To Take Safety Measures On Highways

Tehran, March 17, IRNA – Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Saturday recommended the traffic police to adopt measures for safety of highways on holidays peak. The Supreme Leader made the recommendation in a meeting with police officials in charge of highway traffic arrangements for holidays of Norouz (spring equinox), the beginning of new Iranian year. Ayatollah Khamenei said that ensuring safety of the passengers during the Norouz holidays was one of his major concerns. The Ayatollah urged the officials to do all within their reach to secure safety of passengers on Norouz holidays. Norouz marks the first day of spring and the beginning of the year in the Iranian calendar. It is celebrated on the day of the astronomical Northward equinox, which usually occurs on March 21 or the previous/following day depending on where it is observed. The new Iranian calendar year (1392) will begin this year on March 21./end
