Speaker holds talks with Marshal of Polish Senate

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Speaker of the State Great Khural Z.Enkhbold held Monday official talks with Mr Bogdan Borusewicz, the Marshal of the Polish Senate, who is paying official visit here. Thanking Mr Borusewicz for visiting Mongolia, Z.Enkhbold mentioned that the Mongolia-Poland friendly relations and cooperation have been developing, and emphasized that Mongolia attaches a great importance to its relations with Poland, a member of the both European Union (EU) and the NATO. He also underlined that Poland has rendered big assistance to Mongolia in times of transmitting into democracy and the market economy. In turn, Mr Borusewicz thanked the Speaker for the audience, and said he saw a great transformation of the capital city since he visited us in 1999. Saying that Poland is considered as a sustainably developing country within the EU, Mr Borusewicz pointed out his country will focus on intentions to expand the bilateral cooperation with Mongolia, and to widen the ties between EU and Mongolia. The Mongolian President Ts.Elbegdorj visited Poland in January this year, and the Polish side promised to make a step to open its Embassy in Mongolia. In conjunction with this, the Speaker asked the Polish side to clarify issues about opening the Embassy, saying that Mongolian people are facing difficulties in getting the Polish visa and in expanding the bilateral business relations. The Speaker also said Mongolia can cooperate with Poland in designing an oriental policy of the EU and NATO, to continue the bilateral defense relations and collaboration and to have the Polish Armed Forces representatives participate in the "Khaan Quest" international peacekeeping exercises. Mongolia wants to study Polish experience in renovation of Armed Forces in accordance with the NATO standards and to establish contracts with Poland on military-technical cooperation and on protecting secret information. Emphasizing an importance of the commercial and economic cooperation for expanding the bilateral relations and cooperation, the Speaker asked the Polish side to activate investments from Poland, to support Mongolian export, to realize the Economic Cooperation Agreement, and to pay attention to a matter on establishing the intergovernmental commission. The Polish side affirmed that it will support Mongolia in the 2020 election of the United Nations Security Council, thus the Speaker expressed thanks to Poland, and hoped that Poland will back Mongolia in the 2015 election of the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC). Poland has been actively cooperating with Mongolia in frames of the Community of Democracies (CoD), and so Mongolia thanked Polish side for supporting the UN resolution on education for democracy, and participating in it as a co-author of this resolution which was adopted at the 67th session of the UN General Assembly.
