Speaker: Iran Sanctions Act against nuclear deal

Tehran, Dec 4, IRNA – Iran Sanctions Act (ISA) violates the nuclear deal signed between the Islamic Republic and G5+1 countries (US, China, Russia, UK, France plus Germany), Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said. He questioned the US president honesty in defense of Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action and said half of US Congress are Barak Obama's allies from the Democrat Party but all of them voted for Iran Sanctions Act (ISA). Larijani concluded that the US ruling system including the Democrats and Republicans have consensus in extension of Iran's sanctions. Extension of Iran's sanctions discredits US current president, he added. The official said that the US president has some limitations but not to the extent that he claims and he did not act honestly in preventing approval of ISA. Iran Sanctions Act is against the nuclear deal and the JCPOA is opposed to adopting such measures by the US in 8 cases, he noted. The JCPOA introduction says that G5+1 and Iran are committed to execute the deal in a constructive atmosphere based on mutual respect, Larijani said. He noted that according to the JCPOA, both sides have declared their commitment to avoid any action that violates spirit of the deal. G5+1 has been bound in the nuclear deal to avoid imposing discriminatory rules or alternative sanctions and confining measures against Iran, the speaker said. According to the article 21 of the JCPOA, US should halt sanctions in the second attach and should continue this approach, he noted. Larijani said that investing in production of commodities as well as providing technological science and assistance to Iran's oil, gas and petrochemical sectors are parts that have been exempted from sanctions. US sanctions act focuses on imposing embargoes on Iran's oil, gas and petrochemical sector which violates the article number 21 of JCPOA, he added. The speaker said that therefore, the US measures have no justification internationally and all the international organizations have confirmed Iran's commitment to the JCPOA. 1378/IRNA
