SPEAKER MEETS AMBASSADOR OF CANADA

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Chairman of the State Great Khural (parliament) Z.Enkhbold Wednesday received Mr Gregory Goldhawk, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Mongolia. The Speaker congratulated the Ambassador on the Lunar New Year. Our countries celebrated last year the 40th anniversary of the their diplomatic relations, a state visit of Canada’s Governor-General Mr David Johnston to Mongolia was successful, the Speaker said and added that Mongolia wants to continue talks on establishing Canada's Foreign Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement. After this, Mr Enkhbold wished the Ambassador health and success in 2014. Mongolia and Canada established the diplomatic relations on November 30 of 1973. Mongolia opened its General Consulate in Toronto in 1998 and opened the Embassy in Ottawa in 2001. Canada appointed its Honorary Consulate in 1997. The Embassy of Canada opened here in 2008.
