SPEAKER MEETS FORMER US SECRETARY OF DEFENSE

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Chairman of the State Great Khural (parliament) Mr Z.Enkhbold Wednesday received Mr Donald Rumsfeld, a former US Secretary of Defense and leader of the Rumsfeld Foundation. Expressing thanks to the Speaker for an audience, Mr Rumsfeld mentioned about the 25th anniversary of the Mongolian democratic revolution, and underlined the democratic experience of Mongolia could teach big lessons to other countries. He pointed out that some 10 Mongolian students have been involved in a scholarship program of the Rumsfeld Foundation. The Speaker Mr Enkhbold said he is glad for meeting with the delegation headed by Mr Rumsfeld. He noted that a development of Mongolia has forwarded since 2005 when Mr Rumsfeld paid a visit to Mongolia as the US Secretary of Defense, and then briefed about a present a socio-economic condition of Mongolia. Present at the meeting were Dr Frederick Starr at the John Hopkins University; Dr Steve Cambone, a board member of the Donald Rumsfeld Foundation; and other officials.
