Speaker meets with his Kuwaiti counterpart

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Within his official visit to Al-Kuwait, Chairman of State Great Khural M.Enkhbold met Tuesday with Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim, the Kuwait's National Assembly Speaker. The latter thanked him for his visit and noted that Mongolia is one of the closest countries for the people and Government of Kuwait. “We find it crucial to expand the inter-parliamentary ties between the countries”, he stressed. In turn, Mr Enkhbold congratulated him on being re-elected the Speaker of National Assembly of Kuwait and wished successes to Kuwait’s legislature. “Development of the inter-parliamentary cooperation will give impetus to the extension of ties between the Governments of both countries. On the other hand it will play an important role in boosting relations in the economic and investment spheres”, he added. Speaker Enkhbold said bilateral cooperation has been witnessing dynamic development in last 20 years and noted that Kuwait is one of the closest countries Mongolian maintains constructive collaboration with. “The Government of Kuwait has taken active part in the Millenium road project in the scope of which the Kuwaiti side built 50 km roads. The funding from the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development has played a significant role in constructing Taishir hydropower plant which is energy source of the Western zone of Mongolia. Currently, Kuwaiti research center which was created by the initiative of the Emir of Kuwait is actively working in Ulaanbaatar”, he added. The Mongolian Speaker forwarded a proposal on convening a Mongolia-Kuwait Intergovernmental commission meeting in 2017. Mr Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim pledged to pay attention to his request and the suggestion of the Mongolian Government. The parties discussed issues related to regional cooperation.
