SPEAKER MEETS MONGOLIANS IN SOUTH KOREA

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ In a scope of his official visit, the Speaker of parliament Z.Enkhbold held last Friday a meeting with South Korea-based Mongolians in Pusan city. This meeting gathered 6,000 Mongolians who represented all the Mongolians in the country. For the time being, about 26 thousand Mongolians live in South Korea, 7,785 of them are registered as “illegal”. The positive facts are that the number of such resident has been reducing year by year. South Korea is one of the closest partners of Mongolia in East Asia. In accordance with a policy of our new cabinet, the Ministry of Labour and the Ministry of Population Development and Social Welfare are striving to protect Mongolians in the country, "for instance, we have discussed with the South Korean authorities a matter on pledge money of 7-14 million togrog for the visa applicants,” the Speaker said. The number of Mongolians working in South Korea has been declining, because jobs and salaries are increasing in Mongolia, Mr Enkhbold noted. “Some Mongolians have been involved in crimes in the country, we must strongly adhere to the country’s laws and regulations,” he stressed and urged them to return home and contribute to great construction and development.
