Speaker at regional seminar on anti-corruption

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Chairman of the State Great Khural (parliament) Z.Enkhbold made opening remarks at opening of the 20th board meeting of the Anti-Corruption Initiative for Asia Pacific and its 13th regional seminar on Thursday. He noted that parliament adopted the anti-corruption law in 1996, considering this matter at a policy level, and that Mongolia joined the UN Convention against Corruption in 2005 and amended its law in 2006. Mongolia passed the laws on information transparency and obtaining information in 2011, on regulating public and personal interests in the public service and prevention of conflicts of interest in 2012, on “glass” accounts in 2014, and on the general administration law in 2015, so the legal environment for combating corruption has been upgrading, he underlined. The Speaker is satisfied with a starting of a big initiative on establishing a network of law enforcement bodies at a regional level in frames of detecting crimes of corruption, he said and emphasized that this initiative is well timed because corruption crimes have been becoming more complicated. Mr Enkhbold went on that Mongolia is always ready to accept comprehensive and multilateral tendencies of combating and preventing corruption, to cooperate in strengthening corruption-free justice at regional and international arenas.
