Spokesman: Iran-Turkey, Together In Fight Against PKK

Ankara, Dec 26, IRNA – Foreign Ministry Spokesman, in reaction to claims by certain Turkish officials concerning relations between Tehran and PKK, said Iran and Turkey are together in fighting against PKK terrorist acts and have good cooperation in this regard. In a press conference here on Tuesday evening in the venue of Iran's embassy, Ramin Mihman-parast said that in recent days a number of statements have been published by certain Turkish officials which have caused sensitivity in Iran's public opinion. He added that in his meetings with Turkish officials, he discussed remarks of Turkey's deputy premier in the parliament as well as statement of Turkish Interior Minister. Mihman-parast said in the meetings, the officials told him that their remarks have not been presented in a correct way. 'A number of them told me that it might be their own personal views and Turkey's official policy is clear,' said Mihman-parast. Concerning claim of Turkey's Interior Minister about connection between Iran and PKK, the spokesman said Iran is a victim of terrorism and terrorism is condemned in any form. He continued that Iran and Turkey in fight against terrorist groups such as PKK are standing next to each other and have good cooperation in this concern. Mihman-parast also said in a meeting with Turkey's officials he discussed deployment of Patriot Missile System in Turkey. He said Iran is seeking establishment of security in the region, because stability and security are beneficial to all regional countries./end
