Spokesman: News Exchange Between Iran-Turkey, Must

Ankara, Dec 26, IRNA – Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mihman-parast said existing regional sensitivities have increased necessity of news exchanges between Iran and Turkey. In a meeting with Anadolu News Agency Managing Director Kamal Uzturk here on Tuesday afternoon, Mihman-parast said that considering technology progress in communication, public opinion role in developing mutual relations is very important. He added that independent states should defend their values and national interests. Independence needs powerful mass media and these media should cooperate with each other to send our voice to the world, he said. Mihman-parast continued that western countries, in spite of their claims on freedom of speech, are afraid of Iranian voice to reach the world. Criticizing dual behavior of the western countries with human rights issue, the spokesman said that the westerners are talking about violation of human rights, but they do not talk about thousand of Palestinians who are massacred by the Zionist regime. He said the main aim of the westerners is to create disunity among regional powerful states, adding that regional countries should have close cooperation with each other and settle regional problems by themselves without foreign interference. Expounding on Iran's stances on Syria, he referred to Iran's six-article plan and said that media have a big responsibility to show realities of the region. He called Iran and Turkey as two powerful and important countries of the region with common history, values and culture, adding that Iran wants more relations between media of the two countries. Kamal Uzturk, for his part, said that Iran and Turkey are two active countries of the region and have active news agencies. Referring to news cooperation between IRNA and Anadolu news agencies, he said that Anadolu plans to disseminate news in 11 languages during next seven years and become one of the five big world news agencies.
