Spokesman Stresses On Historical, Cultural Identity Of Nezami

Tehran, Aug 20, IRNA – Foreign Ministry Spokesman Abbas Araqchi said the news on removing Persian inscriptions from the walls of Nezami Ganjavis mausoleum in Ganja, Azarbaijan Repunlic, if true, is regrettable. The spokesman was reacting on Saturday to the news about removing the Persian inscriptions from the walls of Nezami Ganjavis mausoleum in Ganja and replacing them with Turkish poems of the poet. Nezami is a well-known poet of the 12th century who lived from 1141 to 1209. Nezami is considered the greatest romantic epic poet in Persian literature. Araqchi said,The move will certainly not affect the historical, cultural identity of the well-known poet. Great men of literature cannot be restricted to certain geographical borders. Nezami Ganjavi is not only the common heritage of peoples of Iran and Azarbaijan Republic but he is part of the cultural herirtage of humanity and everyone should do their best to keep this heritage, said the spokesman./end
