Sr. Pakistani Politician Falls From Lifter, Injured

Islamabad, May 8, IRNA-- Pakistanˈs senior political leader, Imran Khan, was injured after he fell down from a lifter as he was climbing on a stage in the eastern city of Lahore on Tuesday, his spokesman said. Khan, Chairman of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf or Justice Party, was climbing on a stage to address a public meeting when he came down along with several activists, the partyˈs spokesman, Ejaz Chaudhry said. Chaudhry said that the PTI chief received injuries at head but said he is out of danger. TV footage showed Khan while bleeding continued from his head. He was shifted to Shaukat Khanum Hospital for treatment. Witnesses said that Khan came down from near 20-feet lifter. Prime Minister Mir Hazar Khan Khoso expressed his deep concern over the head injury to Imran Khan, the PM office said. The Prime Minister has wished him well and hoped for his early recovery, a statement said. The news of Imran Khanˈs injuries send a message of shock to his supporters across the country and many people rushed to the hospital.
