Stances of Russia, Qatar on security concept in Gulf close - Lavrov

MOSCOW, December 25. /TASS/. The positions of Russia and Qatar on the concept of security in the Gulf are similar, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Friday following talks with Qatar’s top diplomat Khalid bin Mohammad Al Attiyah. "Russia and Qatar adopt pretty close stances in promoting the concept of security in the Gulf region with the participation of all littoral countries," the minister said. "We have shared with the Qatari side today our considerations on the security concept in the Gulf taking into account the recent developments, including the agreements on the Iranian nuclear program that have been reached and a sharp increase in terrorist threats for all of us," Lavrov said.
