State Secretary of Justice Ministry gives speech at high-level meeting

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The law on combating human trafficking, adopted by parliament in 2011, has become a pillar legal document on anti-human trafficking, prevention of this crime and protecting the victims. The State Secretary of the Ministry of Justice J.Bayartsetseg said it at the UN General Assembly high-level meeting on improving the coordination of efforts against trafficking in persons kicked off Monday in New York City. Representing the government of Mongolia, Ms Bayartsetseg delivered a speech at the meeting on policy measures taken by the government for combating human trafficking, prevention and protection of the victims, and further activities. Ms Bayartsetseg mentioned that Mongolia approved the Action Plan on Combating against Human Trafficking in 2009, and a national council has been set up with aims to regulate the inter-branch activities and to support the nationwide actions. "Mongolia intends to amend laws and resolutions on combating transnational crimes in frames of its court reform initiated by the government," she said, confirming that the government of Mongolia will make efforts to realize the International Plan on combating human trafficking. The high-level meeting has brought together representatives of 190 countries including Deputy Ministers and State Secretaries of over 20 countries.
