Summit of CIS defence organization to be held in Tajikistan on Sept 15, says Putin

UFA, July 8. /TASS/. The CIS Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) is getting ready for a summit on September 15 in Tajikistan, President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday. He revealed the information at a meeting with Tajikistani President Emomali Rakhmon. Putin praised Tajikistan’s achievements in the capacity of president of the CSTO, He particularly pointed out the exercises that had been held as part of this presidency. As he spoke about bilateral relations, Putin recalled trade turnover between the two countries grew 24% last year in spite of all the complexities. "There was a small downward correction at the beginning of this year but the tendency is encouraging on the whole," Putin said. Emomali Rakhmon said on his part Tajikistan and Russia were strategic partners and the deepening of cooperation was a priority for them. He proposed Putin to discuss the agreements the two sides had signed previously, including in the format of the CIS Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). Read more
