Supreme Leader acknowledges sensitive situation of Lebanon

Tehran, Aug 30, IRNA – Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said in a meeting with Lebanese President Michel Suleiman.on Thursday that Lebanon has a sensitive condition in the region. Certain foreign powers try to stir unrest in some regional states including Lebanon but cooperation and solidarity among Lebanese ethnic groups and clans and their reliance on important value of resistance would thwart the attempts, said the Supreme Leader The Supreme Leader said Lebanese leaders and personalities have been successful to show good experience from themselves and through perseverance against religious and ethnic differences and support for resistance managed to solve many problems. Ayatollah Khamenei said patriotic dialogue is a right policy in Lebanon adding that some inside and outside Lebanon have some plans but Lebanese president, prime minister and speaker can manage affaires well and they should keep their stance. The Supreme Leader opposed any foreign intervention in Syria, saying the only solution to Syrian problem is preventing arms shipment to irresponsible groups. President Suleiman for his part stressed further expansion of Iran-Lebanon ties. He hoped the NAM summit and Iran’s presidency over NAM would have concrete and positive impacts on many issues, including Palestine.
